The U.S. Political System and Its Persistent Alignment with Lower Consciousness
Introduction: The Illusion of Choice in a Lower Consciousness System
The U.S. political system is often hailed as a beacon of democracy, offering citizens the “freedom of choice” through various political parties, elections, and democratic processes. However, despite having options on paper, the system remains deeply entrenched in Lower Consciousness (LC) mentalities, prioritizing ego-driven interests, material gain, and power dynamics over true compassion, justice, and collective well-being. This article explores how the U.S. political structure, despite its democratic facade, perpetuates an LC mentality, focusing on partisanship, corporate influence, and social division.
1. Two-Party System: Perpetuating Division and Ego-Driven Conflict
The U.S. political landscape is dominated by a two-party system, primarily split between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. While the presence of two dominant parties theoretically provides voters with a choice, it often results in polarization and the entrenchment of binary thinking. Instead of fostering diverse viewpoints and solutions, this structure creates an “us vs. them” mentality, leading to partisan gridlock and conflict-driven politics. Both parties tend to focus on maintaining power rather than serving the greater good.
LC Mentality: The two-party system reflects a Lower Consciousness mentality by perpetuating competition, ego-based division, and tribalism. Instead of working together for the benefit of society, political parties often vilify one another, creating further separation and fueling resentment among citizens.
OM Perspective: A Higher Consciousness (HC) approach would emphasize collaboration, recognizing that all parties are fragments of Oneness striving toward the same goal of improving society. In HC, the political system would prioritize unity, compassion, and the common good over ego-driven party loyalties and divisiveness.
2. Corporate Influence and Lobbying: Power Over People
One of the most significant factors undermining the integrity of the U.S. political system is the role of corporate influence and lobbying. Wealthy corporations, special interest groups, and political action committees (PACs) wield enormous influence over lawmakers by funneling money into campaigns and policy-making. This disproportionate influence allows corporations to shape legislation in their favor, often at the expense of the average citizen. Healthcare, energy policy, financial regulations, and environmental protections are frequently shaped to benefit corporate interests rather than public well-being.
LC Mentality: This dynamic reflects a classic LC pattern of prioritizing material wealth and self-interest over ethical governance and the greater good. The pursuit of profit often overrides the moral responsibility to ensure the well-being of citizens and the planet. Corporate donations distort the political process, making it difficult for lawmakers to act independently of their donors.
OM Perspective: In an HC political system, decisions would be made based on justice, compassion, and the recognition that all beings are interconnected. Corporate influence would be minimal, and policies would be enacted with a focus on sustainability, fairness, and equity, rather than material gain.
3. Voter Suppression and Limited Representation
Despite being a democratic system, voter suppression remains a significant issue in the U.S., particularly in marginalized communities. Gerrymandering, restrictive voter ID laws, and the disenfranchisement of certain groups (e.g., formerly incarcerated individuals) limit the political representation of millions of citizens. Additionally, the Electoral College—a relic of the early U.S. political system—creates an imbalance in representation, often giving disproportionate influence to smaller states and reducing the impact of the popular vote.
LC Mentality: These practices reflect a Lower Consciousness mentality of exclusion and inequality. Instead of empowering all citizens equally, the system benefits those in positions of power, further deepening inequality and injustice. The ego-driven pursuit of maintaining power leads to systems that suppress rather than uplift.
OM Perspective: In an HC system, all individuals would be granted the opportunity to fully participate in shaping the future of their society. Equitable voting rights, fair representation, and transparency would be prioritized, recognizing that all citizens are fragments of Oneness and deserve to have their voices heard.
4. Short-Term Thinking and Profit-Driven Policies
Many policies in the U.S. political system are shaped by short-term thinking, particularly around economic and environmental issues. Politicians are incentivized to focus on short-term gains—such as tax cuts, job creation, and profit-driven energy policies—in order to secure re-election. Long-term sustainability, especially concerning the environment and public health, is often sacrificed for the sake of immediate political success and economic profit.
LC Mentality: This short-sightedness stems from a Lower Consciousness attachment to material success and ego-based goals. Policies are driven by the pursuit of power and wealth rather than ensuring a sustainable future for all citizens. Politicians are more concerned with maintaining their positions than with creating long-term solutions for the collective well-being.
OM Perspective: Higher Consciousness would focus on long-term solutions that benefit not just the current population but future generations. Sustainable development, climate action, and holistic economic policies that uplift all citizens would be prioritized over immediate gains, acknowledging the interconnectedness of all beings and the planet.
5. Lack of Focus on Collective Well-Being
While politicians frequently talk about healthcare, education, and social welfare, the actual policies implemented often fall short of truly addressing the needs of the population. Income inequality, racial injustice, and mental health crises remain deeply rooted issues in the U.S. due to the lack of comprehensive, compassionate policies aimed at uplifting all members of society. The focus is more on maintaining power structures than on building a just, equitable society.
LC Mentality: This reflects a Lower Consciousness mentality where the pursuit of power, status, and wealth for a few outweighs the collective well-being of society. The system perpetuates division and inequality, keeping many in positions of suffering and lack.
OM Perspective: In an HC political system, the well-being of the collective would be paramount. Policies would be designed with compassion and justice at their core, aiming to uplift the most vulnerable and create systems where all citizens can thrive. Holistic approaches to healthcare, education, and economic development would ensure a more equitable and flourishing society.
Conclusion: Moving Toward Higher Consciousness in Politics
While the U.S. political system presents the illusion of choice and democracy, it remains deeply rooted in Lower Consciousness due to its focus on power, wealth, and division. Despite having “options” through multiple elections, these choices often reflect two sides of the same coin, driven by corporate influence, short-term thinking, and systemic inequality.
In the Oneness Movement (OM), the political system would be transformed to operate from Higher Consciousness (HC), prioritizing unity, compassion, and justice. By fostering a culture of collaboration and recognizing the interconnectedness of all beings, the system could evolve into one that truly serves the collective well-being of all citizens.
To achieve this, systemic reforms must address corporate influence, ensure equal representation, and shift the focus from material gain to long-term sustainability and collective care. This transformation would align the political system with the principles of Oneness, reflecting the true potential of a just and equitable society.
