The Suffering of the Innocents and Voiceless in the Physical Realm

In the physical realm, where finite resources and competition shape much of life’s experience, the innocent and voiceless are often those who suffer the most. Whether it’s children, animals, or marginalized human groups, their suffering is magnified by the influence of Low Consciousness (LC) and the oppressive forces of NOM (the Non-Oneness Mentality). These vulnerable beings often lack the power or platform to defend themselves, and under LC and NOM, their suffering is either ignored, exploited, or justified in the pursuit of material gain and self-interest.

1. The Innocents and Voiceless: Who Are They?

In the context of the Oneness Movement (OM), the innocents and voiceless are those who are most vulnerable to suffering in the physical world, often because they lack the ability to fight back or advocate for themselves. These include:

  • Children, who are often caught in cycles of abuse, poverty, or systemic neglect.

  • Animals, who endure suffering in industries that exploit them for food, research, or entertainment.

  • Marginalized human groups, such as the poor, refugees, or disenfranchised communities, whose voices are either silenced or ignored by those in power.

These beings are often forced into positions of helplessness, and in a world dominated by LC and NOM, their suffering is viewed as either collateral damage or the natural order of things.

2. LC’s Role in the Suffering of the Innocent

Low Consciousness (LC) is characterized by self-centeredness, a focus on immediate gratification, and a lack of compassion. When individuals or societies operate from this level of consciousness, the suffering of others—particularly the innocent and voiceless—is either overlooked or dismissed as irrelevant to personal or economic success.

Indifference and Exploitation

In LC, the focus on material gain and personal survival often leads to a callous disregard for the suffering of others. The innocent and voiceless, lacking power or resources, are easy targets for exploitation. For example:

  • Children in Conflict: In regions of war or conflict, children often bear the brunt of violence, forced into situations they cannot control. LC-driven forces may use children as soldiers, laborers, or political pawns, without considering their emotional and physical suffering.

  • Animals in Factory Farming: In industries like factory farming, animals endure tremendous suffering, confined to small spaces, deprived of natural behaviors, and often treated as mere commodities. LC justifies this suffering by prioritizing profit and consumer demand over the well-being of these creatures.

  • Marginalized Groups: Disenfranchised communities, particularly in impoverished or politically unstable regions, suffer from neglect, abuse, or oppression. LC-driven policies may ignore these groups, allowing their suffering to persist without intervention because they are seen as unprofitable or politically inconvenient.

Normalization of Suffering

LC often results in the normalization of suffering for the innocent and voiceless. In a world where competition and materialism are prioritized, the suffering of the vulnerable is accepted as an unfortunate but necessary byproduct of the pursuit of success. This normalization creates a cultural desensitization, where the pain of others is pushed to the background, making it easier for those in LC to justify their self-serving actions.

3. NOM’s Role in Perpetuating Suffering

The Non-Oneness Mentality (NOM) goes further than LC, actively promoting systems and ideologies that encourage division, exploitation, and short-term gain. NOM thrives on the idea that power and dominance are the ultimate goals, and it uses fear, control, and competition to maintain that power.

Systemic Exploitation Under NOM

NOM-driven systems perpetuate suffering through institutionalized exploitation. These systems are designed to benefit the few at the expense of the many, with the innocent and voiceless often bearing the brunt of this exploitation.

  • Child Labor: In NOM-driven economies, child labor is often used as a tool for maximizing profit. Children in impoverished areas are forced into unsafe working conditions with little regard for their well-being or development, their suffering seen as a necessary cost of economic efficiency.

  • Environmental Destruction: Animals and entire ecosystems suffer under NOM’s disregard for environmental sustainability. Forests are destroyed, oceans are polluted, and species are driven to extinction in the pursuit of short-term material gain, without any consideration for the suffering of the living beings that depend on those ecosystems.

The Silencing of Voices

NOM not only perpetuates suffering but also actively silences those who speak out against it. In NOM systems, whistleblowers, activists, and marginalized voices are often suppressed or discredited. The innocent and voiceless, lacking representation and power, are either unheard or intentionally marginalized to maintain the status quo of exploitation and division.

  • Political Oppression: In many NOM-driven regimes, marginalized communities and activists who fight for the rights of the innocent or voiceless are targeted through censorship, imprisonment, or even violence. This creates a system where suffering is hidden, and those in power are insulated from the consequences of their actions.

  • Disconnection from Nature: NOM promotes a disconnection from nature, encouraging a worldview that sees nature as a resource to be exploited rather than a living system to be respected. This leads to the destruction of habitats, ecosystems, and the animals within them, with little regard for the interconnectedness of all life.

4. The Innocents’ Suffering as a Reflection of LC and NOM

The suffering of innocents and the voiceless, whether human or non-human, is a reflection of the LC and NOM-driven mentality that dominates much of the physical realm. In this world, where finite resources and competition shape reality, the vulnerable are often exploited to maintain systems of power, profit, and control.

  • The Innocence of the Voiceless: The very innocence of the voiceless—whether children, animals, or marginalized people—makes them vulnerable to the ruthlessness of LC and NOM. They are not equipped to compete in the aggressive systems that LC and NOM uphold, and their silence allows their suffering to continue unchecked.

  • Exploitation as Justification: In LC and NOM, exploitation is often justified through the lens of survival of the fittest, where the strong must rise above the weak. This mentality leads to the dehumanization of the vulnerable, reducing their suffering to mere collateral damage in the pursuit of power.

5. The OM Perspective: Addressing Suffering Through Compassion and Consciousness

In contrast to LC and NOM, the Oneness Movement emphasizes compassion, unity, and the expansion of consciousness. In OM, the suffering of the innocent and voiceless is seen as an urgent call for humanity to awaken to its interconnectedness and shared responsibility.

  • Compassion as the Solution: OM believes that compassion is the antidote to suffering. By recognizing the interconnectedness of all beings, individuals can move beyond the ego-driven, fear-based behavior of LC and NOM, instead acting from a place of love, empathy, and solidarity with the voiceless.

  • Expanding Consciousness: OM teaches that as we expand our consciousness, we begin to understand the true nature of suffering and recognize that the suffering of any being is ultimately the suffering of all. Through spiritual growth and the realization of Oneness, humanity can transcend the divisive, exploitative systems of LC and NOM, working instead to create a world where all beings—human and non-human—are honored and cared for.

  • Action Through Compassionate Justice: OM advocates for compassionate justice—a form of action that addresses the systemic causes of suffering, not through punishment or vengeance but through healing, restoration, and a commitment to ending exploitation. This involves protecting the vulnerable, amplifying the voices of the voiceless, and creating systems that foster equity, sustainability, and interdependence.

Conclusion: Ending the Suffering of the Innocents and Voiceless

The suffering of the innocent and voiceless in the physical realm is exacerbated by the LC mentality and the destructive systems of NOM that prioritize materialism, competition, and division over compassion and unity. However, through the teachings of OM, we are called to recognize the interconnectedness of all life and to act from a place of compassion and higher consciousness. By rejecting the exploitation and indifference that perpetuate suffering, humanity can move toward a future where all beings are respected, and the voiceless are given the care and protection they deserve.
