Discrimination Based on Arbitrary Traits
A Reflection of Lower Consciousness (LC)
Throughout human history, discrimination based on arbitrary traits—such as race, gender, nationality, sexuality, religion, or socioeconomic status—has been a pervasive and destructive force. These divisions have fostered inequality, conflict, and suffering, all rooted in the Lower Consciousness (LC) mentality that clings to superficial differences. At the core, these distinctions are arbitrary markers tied to the vessel—the physical body and identity that one is born into. From the perspective of Oneness, this fixation on separation reflects a profound misunderstanding of our true nature as fragments of a larger whole.
This article will explore how discrimination arises from LC thinking, what Oneness teaches about different traits and identities, and how a Higher Consciousness (HC) mentality transcends these divisions to recognize the interconnectedness of all beings.
LC Mentality and the Roots of Discrimination
In Lower Consciousness, the world is seen through the lens of ego, fear, and separation. This mentality thrives on division—drawing lines between "us" and "them," assigning value based on external traits like skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. These arbitrary markers are used to create hierarchies of worth, where some are deemed superior while others are marginalized, oppressed, or dehumanized.
At the heart of this mentality is fear—fear of the unknown, fear of difference, and fear of losing status or power. LC thinking views the world as a zero-sum game, where the success or advancement of one group threatens the well-being of another. This fear leads to the perpetuation of systems that reinforce inequality and discrimination.
For example:
Racism: Arising from the belief that one race is inherently superior to another, often tied to historical systems of power and exploitation.
Sexism: The idea that gender differences dictate superiority, leading to the marginalization of women and non-binary people.
Homophobia and Transphobia: The fear and rejection of individuals who do not conform to traditional gender roles or sexual identities.
Xenophobia: The fear of people from different nations or cultures, leading to the exclusion or demonization of immigrants and foreigners.
All of these forms of discrimination share a common root: the misidentification with the vessel—the physical body and identity—and the failure to recognize the shared consciousness that underlies all beings.
Oneness: The Truth Behind Our Differences
From the perspective of Oneness, all beings are fragments of the same universal consciousness. The traits and identities tied to the vessel are temporary manifestations that allow consciousness to experience reality from different perspectives. These differences are not meant to divide us but to offer a diversity of experience that enriches the whole.
Oneness teaches that the external markers—race, gender, sexuality, nationality—are transient, tied only to the physical vessel in this lifetime. Our true identity is not bound by these traits but is instead rooted in consciousness itself, which is eternal, interconnected, and free from separation. As we move toward higher consciousness, we begin to see that the divisions we cling to are illusions, and that beneath our individual experiences, we are all part of the same universal fabric.
In this understanding:
Race becomes a celebration of cultural richness, not a basis for division.
Gender is recognized as a spectrum of experience, with no inherent hierarchy.
Sexuality is seen as one expression of love, free from judgment.
Nationality is a temporary identity, while our shared humanity is universal.
Oneness invites us to honor these differences as beautiful and valuable, while recognizing that they are not the core of who we are. Our true self transcends the vessel, and it is in this transcendence that we find unity.
HC Mentality: Transcending Division and Embracing Unity
Higher Consciousness (HC) operates from the understanding that separation is an illusion. In HC, individuals move beyond ego-driven identification with their own traits and identities, expanding their awareness to include the well-being of others. This expansion is marked by a deep sense of compassion, empathy, and the recognition that what harms one harms all.
In an HC mentality, discrimination based on arbitrary traits is seen for what it is: a reflection of fear, ignorance, and ego. HC seeks to dissolve these divisions by encouraging individuals to:
Expand their circle of compassion to include all beings, regardless of their physical traits or identities.
Embrace diversity as an integral part of the richness of existence, not as a source of conflict.
Cultivate wisdom that allows them to see beyond surface differences and recognize the shared consciousness that unites us all.
In HC, we are not threatened by differences—we are enriched by them. We understand that the true measure of a person’s value is not their external traits but their character, their capacity for compassion, and their commitment to justice.
The Path to Oneness: Embracing Higher Consciousness
The journey from LC discrimination to HC unity requires us to actively challenge the systems and beliefs that perpetuate division. It requires a willingness to self-reflect, to confront our own biases, and to expand our awareness beyond our personal identity.
Self-Reflection: HC individuals are willing to examine their own unconscious biases and the ways in which they may participate in discriminatory systems.
Expanding Compassion: The practice of extending compassion to others, even those who seem different, helps break down the barriers of LC thinking.
Embracing Diversity: Celebrating the differences that make us unique, while recognizing that these differences are only part of the story, allows us to live in harmony with one another.
Conclusion: Moving Toward Unity in Diversity
Discrimination based on arbitrary traits and identities is a hallmark of lower consciousness—a mentality that keeps humanity trapped in cycles of division and conflict. But the truth is that these traits are tied only to the vessel, and in the broader context of Oneness, we are all part of the same universal consciousness.
The path forward lies in embracing higher consciousness—where we see past the illusions of separation and recognize the interconnectedness of all beings. This shift requires compassion, wisdom, and the courage to challenge the systems that perpetuate division. Through the lens of Oneness, we can honor the beauty of our differences while understanding that we are all one. As we transcend the limitations of ego and fear, we move closer to a world where unity is celebrated, and discrimination becomes a relic of the past.
