The Sanctity of Life: A Balanced Perspective on Abortion

In the realm of human existence, few matters evoke such deeply rooted emotional, ethical, and philosophical debates as abortion. From the moment a sperm fertilizes an egg, a miraculous event occurs—the union of two distinct sets of genetic information and, as I see it, the joining of half of a consciousness to create a developing whole. This process is the inception of life, and for that reason, life is inherently precious. To treat it irreverently or casually undermines its sacredness and disrespects the potential of the being that is forming.

At the same time, I recognize that life is not simple. A balance must be struck between the protection of life and the dignity and safety of the mother, particularly in cases of rape or when a woman's life is endangered by her pregnancy. These are circumstances that demand compassion and a nuanced understanding of both the physical and emotional toll they can have on a person.

The Lower Consciousness Approach: Indulgence and Convenience

A growing concern is the normalization of a mentality driven by lower consciousness (LC), which often views sexuality as an indulgence without consequence. In such cases, abortion is sometimes sought as a mere convenience after engaging in reckless or unprotected sex. With the availability of modern contraceptives and medical interventions that can prevent conception, the idea that one can disregard these precautions, only to abort a developing life, is troubling. This LC mentality dismisses the value of life and frames the potential of that life as a burden that can be shrugged off.

This does not mean that sexuality should be repressed or feared. On the contrary, the experience of physical reality, including our sexual nature, is an essential part of human existence. However, it is vital that this exploration is done responsibly and ethically. Like any other aspect of life, sexual expression carries responsibilities—to oneself, to one's partner, and, potentially, to a developing life.

Responsible and Ethical Exploration of Physical Reality

The call to be mindful in one's exploration of physical reality, particularly with regard to sexuality, is a call to higher consciousness (HC). In this view, we are all encouraged to experience life fully, but not to do so at the expense of others. This includes the conscious decision to prevent harm to a developing fetus by taking responsible actions before conception occurs. We live in a world where contraception, education, and healthcare allow us to prevent unwanted pregnancies and reduce the number of abortions that occur as a result of negligence or selfishness.

In essence, to live in higher consciousness means to approach every decision, especially those involving life, with care and awareness. When we value life at all stages, we cultivate a deeper respect for ourselves and the world around us. And in cases where abortion is necessary—such as in cases of rape or when a mother's life is at risk—it can be viewed not as a rejection of life, but as a painful and complex decision made with compassion and a sense of dignity for all involved.

Striking the Balance

Ultimately, the question of abortion should not be reduced to black-and-white debates about legality or morality. Instead, it should invite a broader conversation about what it means to value life, to act ethically, and to foster higher consciousness in all aspects of human experience. There must be room for both the protection of a developing life and the consideration of a mother's dignity and well-being in extreme circumstances.

At the same time, society must reject the LC mentality that treats life casually or uses abortion as a quick solution to avoid responsibility. The goal is to create a world where people are empowered to make informed, thoughtful, and conscious decisions—about their bodies, their sexuality, and the preciousness of life—so that abortion becomes less about convenience and more about the protection of life in all its forms.

In Oneness, we honor the miracle of life while also acknowledging the complexities of human experience. The key is finding the balance that upholds both life and dignity, with an unwavering commitment to compassion and responsibility.
