Game of Thrones Through the Lens of the Oneness Movement

An Exploration of Power, Survival, and the Struggle Between Higher and Lower Consciousness

Introduction: A World Shaped by Lower Consciousness

The world of Game of Thrones (GoT) is a brutal, chaotic realm where power is the ultimate currency, and survival often comes at the cost of morality. It is a low-consciousness system driven by self-interest, deception, tribalism, and ruthless ambition. The series masterfully explores the conflict between those trapped in lower consciousness (LC) and those who seek something higher.

From the relentless pursuit of power by figures like Cersei Lannister to the self-sacrificing leadership of Jon Snow, Game of Thrones presents an intricate study of human nature, moral compromise, and the possibility (or impossibility) of enlightenment within a corrupt world.

The Iron Throne as the Ultimate LC Trap

The Iron Throne is not just a seat of power—it is a symbol of lower consciousness itself. It embodies:

  • Ego and Self-Interest: The obsession with ruling consumes nearly everyone who desires it.

  • Deception and Betrayal: Lies and manipulation are the norm.

  • Scarcity Mentality: The belief that power is finite and must be hoarded.

  • Separation and Tribalism: Each House fights for dominance rather than cooperation.

  • Cyclical Violence: War is perpetuated because rulers refuse to transcend their own greed.

The pursuit of the Throne mirrors the LC pursuit of wealth, status, and domination in our own world. Those who chase it often fall deeper into fear, cruelty, and self-destruction, reinforcing the Consciousness Index Spectrum (CIS) framework, where selfish ambition drives individuals down the scale of awareness.

Key Characters and Their Consciousness Levels

Jon Snow: The Reluctant Leader (+6 to +8)

Jon Snow is one of the highest-consciousness figures in Game of Thrones. He consistently prioritizes the greater good over personal ambition, refuses to play the game of deceit, and seeks unity between warring factions.

  • Transcendence of Ego: Jon rejects power multiple times, understanding its corrupting influence.

  • Service to Others: He acts from duty, not personal gain.

  • Compassion and Justice: He integrates former enemies (e.g., the Wildlings) into the greater whole.

  • Fatal Flaw: His idealism clashes with the LC world, making him vulnerable to betrayal.

Jon is an example of a high-consciousness being trapped in an LC system. His struggle mirrors those in our own world who seek justice and unity but face resistance from entrenched power structures.

Daenerys Targaryen: The Failed Messiah (+5 to -8)

Daenerys begins her journey as an empowered liberator, seeking to free the oppressed. However, as her attachment to power grows, she succumbs to LC thinking.

  • Early HC Traits (+5 to +7): She fights for justice, liberates slaves, and envisions a better world.

  • Descent into LC (-8): As she becomes more attached to the idea of being the “rightful ruler”, she adopts a scarcity mindset, seeing opposition as a threat that must be destroyed.

  • Final Collapse (-9 to -10): Her massacre of King’s Landing reflects the LC mentality of control through fear.

Daenerys is a tragic example of how idealism can be corrupted by the pursuit of power when one fails to transcend ego.

Tyrion Lannister: The Wise Observer (+4 to +6)

Tyrion starts off as a hedonistic cynic (-3) but evolves into one of the wisest figures in the series.

  • Growth Toward Higher Consciousness: He moves from self-indulgence to responsibility, seeking rational governance over conquest.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Unlike many in power, he deeply understands human behavior and motivations.

  • Limits of HC in LC Structures: His wisdom often goes unheard or dismissed, highlighting how intelligence without power struggles to influence an LC world.

Tyrion represents the intellectual HC, navigating the LC system while attempting to elevate it.

Cersei Lannister: The Embodiment of LC (-9 to -10)

Cersei is one of the purest examples of lower consciousness in Game of Thrones. Every decision she makes is driven by:

  • Self-Preservation & Power Hunger: She is obsessed with securing her own dominance.

  • Lies and Manipulation: She weaponizes deception at every turn.

  • Short-Term Thinking: Her rule is built on force, which inevitably collapses.

  • Lack of Compassion: She sees people as pawns, valuing only her immediate bloodline.

Cersei’s fate demonstrates the self-destructive nature of LC leaders. Her inability to transcend ego, scarcity, and deception leads to her downfall.

The Night King: The Force of Unconsciousness (-10)

The Night King and the White Walkers symbolize the ultimate lower consciousness—absolute stagnation and death.

  • No Individual Will: The White Walkers lack independent thought, mirroring LC masses who are manipulated by fear.

  • Eternal Scarcity: They do not create, only consume.

  • Opposition to Growth: The Night King seeks to end all life, representing the lowest point of CIS—where existence itself is rejected.

He is the LC force taken to its extreme—a force that does not seek power but absolute dominion. His destruction at Arya’s hands represents the victory of human agency over stagnation.

HC vs. LC: Why Westeros Cannot Transcend Its Cycle

Despite Jon Snow’s efforts, Game of Thrones ends on a pessimistic note—the world remains largely unchanged. This reflects a key OM truth:

An LC world resists transformation until enough individuals awaken. You cannot impose HC onto an LC system—it must evolve organically.

In a society dominated by LC, even HC individuals like Jon and Tyrion struggle to effect lasting change. The fact that Bran Stark—a mostly passive figure—becomes king highlights the failure of the world to truly evolve. The cycle of power struggles continues because human consciousness has not yet collectively risen high enough to break free.

Lessons from Game of Thrones Through OM

  • Power Without Wisdom is Destructive – Daenerys shows how idealism without self-awareness leads to tyranny.

  • HC Leaders Struggle in LC Systems – Jon and Tyrion demonstrate that truth and justice require a receptive world to flourish.

  • Scarcity Thinking Perpetuates Suffering – The pursuit of the Iron Throne represents the flawed belief that power must be hoarded rather than shared.

  • True Change Requires Collective Awakening – Game of Thrones teaches that one enlightened leader is not enough—society itself must evolve.

Final Thought: What If Westeros Embraced OM?

Imagine a Westeros where:

  • Scarcity was replaced by cooperative abundance.

  • Rulers were measured by CIS and WIS rather than lineage.

  • Governance prioritized unity rather than conquest.

  • Power was decentralized, fostering holistic, sustainable leadership.

This is the kind of world OM envisions—not one where power is seized, but one where it is shared, balanced, and used for the well-being of all.

Until humanity rises to this level, the cycles of Westeros—and our own world—will continue.
